Teacher Leadership Academy 2021
This unique professional development experience is designed to enhance the skills of teachers in the early years of their profession and to offer ongoing mentoring and support going forward. It is our goal to support and retain promising early career teachers and, consequently, create a much better educational experience for California students.
The Academy experience will share with you best practices of California’s most highly effective educators. As an Academy Fellow, you will be collaborating with these highly effective and experienced Carlston teachers. You will learn ways to create exceptional relationships with students, improve classroom instructional skills, and consistently produce academically skilled students. At the conclusion of the Academy, you will be assigned a Carlston Honoree to serve as an active partner and mentor for the academic year that follows the summer session.
The Teacher Leadership Academy (TLA) will be held July 6-10, 2020 at the Ayers Hotel, in Costa Mesa, California. Travel, workshop fees, and other expenses will be covered with the financial support of the Sun Family Foundation. Professional development credits will be available for a fee through CSU Long Beach.
All that is required is your commitment to create and follow a plan of action for the 2020-21 academic year that will be mutually agreed upon between you and your assigned mentor. We also ask for your participation in monthly virtual conference calls and periodic reports on progress. It is our hope that you will leave with strategies and lesson ideas that you can use in your classroom all year and that the Teacher Leadership Academy will give you the opportunity to grow.
